About Me

I’m a first-year Ph.D. student of Mathematics at KU since Fall 2025. I graduated with a major in Math from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in 2023 and from Universidad de Los Andes in 2025, With a Masters in Mathematics. I was born in Bogotá, Colombia.

Research Interests

I’m interested in enumerative and algebraic combinatorics, especially if it has intersections with geometry, both algebraic and discrete. I have worked recently in Matroid Theory and Tropical Geometry. I’m also eager to learn more about Combinatorial Commutative Algebra and Topological Combinatorics at some point.

During my undergrad I worked with geometric lattices and matroids. Afterwards in my masters I worked with the matroids over the tropical-signed hyperfield and its relation with tropical linear spaces. Currently I would like to learn as much algebraic geometry and commutative algebra as I can, so I can apply it to combinatorics problems.

Hobbies

-Languages: I love to learn new languages. Iḿ trying to learn german right now, although I’m not very good at it. French and portuguese also interests me (I can at least read most things in the second one). One of these days I’ll try to start learning latin once more, and I hope someday I’ll be able to read at least some ancient greek as well. -Cooking: Since coming to the U.S, I’ve tried to learn to cook some colombian dishes. I think I’ve suceeded in making good arepas (thanks to my abuela’s recipe), however my almojábanas still need some improvement. I’ll try to make pandebonos or pandeyuca at some point.
